Irene is psychologist and psychotherapist. She obtained her PhD in Psychological and Psychiatric Sciences at the University of Verona, Italy. During her research training she spent a period at WHO Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Geneva, collaborating at the mhGAP guidelines update.

Since 2016 she works at the Section of Evidence Based Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. Her research interests include evidence synthesis in the form of systematic reviews, meta-analyses and network meta-analyses, especially focusing on psychological interventions for schizophrenia; clinical guidelines development and implementation.

Since August 2020 she is Deputy Coordinating Editor of Cochrane Schizophrenia Group.
